Origins and Role: The Central Bank of West African States (CBWAS) is the central bank serving the eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). It was established to promote economic integration and monetary stability in the region.   • Financial Inclusion: BCEAO implements strategies to promote financial inclusion, providing support to decentralized financial systems (DFS) and ensuring their integration into the regional payment system.
